Jeff & Joy are ready for the fight of their LIFE! They have a great family supported by strong caring friends… We’re confident that with the prayer warriors supporting them they will beat this… Insurance will help with some of the expenses. The funds raised here will be used to cover medical cost and additional cost. We ask that you please support the Porter family on this journey. We appreciate each and every one of you and your investment in this challenge. We thank every one of you for your prayers. The outpouring of love for this family has been amazing to witness. Their strength and hope is fed from all of you and we appreciate your support.

More of Jeff’s story: On February 06, 2016 I went to Urgent Care due to severe abdominal pain. I was surprised to be told at Urgent Care “Due to your symptoms you fail Urgent Care. You must go to the Hospital Emergency Room.”

My wife drove me to Catawba Valley Medical Center. We walked in the Emergency Room ready for answers. Once I made it to a room our wait to see a physician went quickly. After my CT scan my wife drove our 15 year old daughter to one of my daughter’s friend’s home for the night. As I waited for my wife to return and the results of my CT scan I decided to take a nap. Before I could fall asleep I was handed a box of tissues as the ER Doctor walked into the room stating “You have Cancer”. My heart dropped into my stomach. The ER Doctor then walked me out to his desk to show me the CT scan images. As the ER Doctor went through the scan he told me the Cancer is in my colon and had moved into my liver, my knees began to buckle. I told the ER Doctor that I had to go sit down because I’m going to pass out. The doctor followed me to my room then stated “It’s advanced. You need to get your personal affairs in order”. As the ER Doctor walked out the door I sit there crushed, in shock, terrified, sad and lost just to name a few feelings. I have never felt so terrified about my family’s future… Preparing to tell my wife was so difficult. The thought of telling my children tore my heart apart.

This week has been a horrifying fog of non stop emotional trauma. This has been a week of doctor’s visits, test and a test of strength. With so much more to come.

We ask that you please support the Porter Family (Jeff, Joy & Makayla). Any amount that is given will be greatly appreciated and used to help with medical and day to day expenses.
